What I wanted to bring together in the Yi Chart extension

Chart calculation, source texts, questions and follow-up notes belong close together. The extension brings them into a sidebar while keeping their roles distinct.

The idea behind Yi Chart was to bring a few related steps closer together: create a chart, check the inputs, read a source text, and continue asking questions about that same chart.

When those steps live in different windows, it’s easy to keep copying information without checking whether a later discussion still refers to the original input. I started with a browser sidebar so that the chart and its inputs remain visible.

A chart before an explanation

The project supports Liuyao, Plum Blossom, Bazi and a limited set of Qimen rules. Each has its own inputs and boundaries. A complete-looking interface should not hide missing information.

If a birth hour is unknown, the display should not invent an hour pillar just to fill a space. Inputs near an uncertain boundary need a clear prompt rather than an unwarranted conclusion.

Local calculation and AI interpretation are separate steps. One applies the implemented rules; the other produces text around a chart and a question. Fluent writing does not prove that the inputs or rules are correct. Checking comes first.

Keep the sources and questions

The sidebar can show the Zhouyi texts for the sixty-four hexagrams. Records can be saved and revisited, with further questions tied to the original chart.

AI access uses your own supported web account or API. Availability, sign-in and quotas still depend on the service you choose. Bringing the entry points together does not make those differences disappear.

Review before sharing

Charts and selected results can be shared as text or images. A preview lets you decide whether to include the question, time and interpretation.

For now, this is a browser extension. This website provides its introduction and guides, not an online chart calculator. A web version would be a separate step.

I want to keep its rules, limitations and unfinished parts visible. It is a tool for cultural study and personal notes, not a basis for medical, financial or other major decisions.
